Chateaux Jean faux is an old castle with origins that date back to the middle ages. Its history links it to the Knights Templar, who chose it as a stronghold on the left bank of the Dordogne. It has been producing wine since 1850. The terroir is very similar to that of it's prestigous neighbour, Saint Emillion and consists mainly of clay and limestone with a southern or south westerly aspect. In recent times the estate has been run by Pascal and Chrystel Collette and produces wines of outstanding quality which punch well above their Bordeaux Superieur classification. This wine is an absolute bargin for what it delivers for the money, layers and layers of flavour ,chocolate, cassis ,cherries with ripe silky smooth tannins. It's a cracker!!!
