Domaine de la Bouïssière was created between 1955 and 1960 by Antonin Faravel. After his death in 1989 his two sons Thierry and Gilles took over the domaine and continued to give their grapes to the co-operative until 1997. Like many ambitious vignerons though, they saw the future away from the co-op and began working their vineyards in a manner that would quickly enable them to emerge amonghts the best producers of the appellation. Their vineyards lie in the north-western part of the rocky hills of the Dentelles de Montmirail, at an altitude of 300m. Planted with Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, the Faravel brothers produce low yields of 30hl per hectare but because of the altitude they manage to avoid the rusicity and low acid problems of wines from the vineyards that lie at a lower level in the village.
