ABV 13.5% Winemaker Fiona Turner has worked with Matt Thomson on many of the most successful wines made in Marlborough. The tinpot hut that gave its name to Fionaâs brand is an old mustering hut in the remote hills between the Wairau and Awatere Valleys. These huts were used as a base for musterers, who were responsible for rounding up the sheep that had been in the hills from spring to autumn and bringing them down to the low paddocks for the winter. The name links Marlborough's past as a sheep farming center with its current state as one of the world's most dynamic wine producing zones as exemplified by this stunning wine. Always one step ahead Fiona has sourced a small parcel of Marlborough Gruner Veltliner to play with, while she awaits the first crop from her neighbour's vineyard at Blind River. The resulting wine is fragrant and food-friendly with aromasof peach blossom and spice, which carry through to the textured, yet dry palate.
